14th Phd Seminar

Announcement and Call for Papers

14th Ph.D. Seminar of the International Telecommunications Society
Aalto, Finland
19 – 20 June 2019

Meet the Experts!

The International Telecommunications Society (ITS) is an association of academics and other professionals in the information, communications, and technology sectors. The ITS network comprises outstanding scholars in the field of telecommunications research that are well known from the literature (see www.itsworld.org).

The objective of the Ph.D. Seminar is to share the valuable expertise of leading academics, industry experts and renowned researchers in the ITS community with a selected group of graduate students in a highly-focused learning environment.

Up to 12 students will be invited to participate in the Ph.D. Seminar based on responses received to the Call for Papers (see below).

Several distinguished international scholars from within the ITS community will participate as discussants based on the topics presented by the winning candidates.

The focus of the Seminar will be on the discussion of ideas presented by the student participants rather than simply on the presentation of papers. Select papers will be considered for refereed submission in Telecommunications Policy.

Please note that in order to be most effective, the discussion will be based on full (draft) papers. Only in exceptional cases will extended abstracts (min. 8 pages) be accepted for submission.

The Seminar will be organised by ITS and Chalmers University of Technology.

Successful participants will receive a certificate from the International Telecommunications Society. The Ph.D. Seminar is eligible for 5 ECTS credits, after approval of a revised paper, and successful participation in the Seminar.

Participation is free of charge. Ph.D. students whose paper has been selected for presentation will receive a subsidy of 500€ to cover accommodation and travel expenses.

The Seminar will be held in conjunction with the 30th European Regional ITS Conference to be held in Aalto, Finland,  June 16-19, 2019. Access to this Conference will be free of charge for the participants in the Ph.D. Seminar (see www.itseurope.org).

Participants in the Ph.D. Seminar can also submit their papers to the main Conference and participate in the competition for the best student paper award.
